Additional processes

Pre- and post-treatments for functional surfaces and stable processes in series production.

Additional processes expand our surface technology to clean, prepare, rework, mark or repair precision components. Co-ordinated pre- and post-treatments reduce interfaces and ensure stable processes.

The most important points

  • Ultrasonic cleaning for ultra-clean component surfaces
  • Barrel finishing and blasting used as pre-treatment before coating
  • Laser processing, pad printing and pad galvanising

Additional processes in surface technology at Polymeca

Additional processes are used wherever there are additional requirements for cleanliness, surface quality or marking. They create defined starting conditions for subsequent coatings or enhance the function of already treated components.

At Polymeca, we strategically integrate these processes into existing manufacturing and coating processes. This reduces external interfaces, and the process chain remains clear and stable.

Our additional processes support both the preparation of precision components and their post-processing and marking. This results in co-ordinated process flows with reproducible results in series production.

Cleaning and component preparation

Pristine surfaces are the absolute foundation for stable coating processes. With precisely tailored cleaning methods, we reliably remove oils, particles and residues from manufacturing. This creates a defined baseline for subsequent processes such as coating, painting or assembly.

Ultrasonic cleaning

  • Cleaning in various systems and processes
  • Cleaning according to customer-specific standards
  • Vacuum packaging and labelling possible

Mechanical surface treatment

((Vorher-Nachher Bild links))

Additional mechanical processes are used for deburring components and for the targeted improvement of surface quality. These processes create defined surfaces and support decorative or functional requirements..

Barrel finishing

  • Deburring of steel, non-ferrous metals and aluminium
  • Homogenisation of fine machining traces
  • Improving surface quality before coating processes

Blasting

  • Corundum
  • Glass beads
  • Silicon carbide
  • Further materials available upon request

Label and process functionally

For unambiguous identification or targeted functional adjustments, we process components using precise laser and printing methods.

Laser processing

  • Partially and reliably remove anodised or paint layers
  • Targeted production of conductivity
  • Avoid covering or masking
  • Save on mechanical post-processing
  • Create precise and detailed contours

Laser marking

  • Serial numbers
  • Logos and nameplates
  • Machine-readable QR codes or Data Matrix codes

Pad printing

  • Indirect gravure printing process for technical components
  • Versatile printing applications on different base materials
  • Economical labelling for series products

Repair and restore

In many cases, coatings or metallic surfaces can be repaired in a targeted manner. This process enables the targeted restoration of functional surfaces without having to recoat the entire component.

Pad galvanising

  • Repair of wear points or damaged coatings
  • Can be carried out at Polymeca or on-site
  • Economical alternative to complete recoating

«Additional processes often determine whether a surface functions reliably in later use. We tailor cleaning, pre-treatment, marking and post-processing specifically to the component and the subsequent process.»

Frequently asked questions about additional processes

What are additional processes in surface technology?
Additional processes are supplementary pre- and post-treatments. Examples include cleaning, barrel finishing, blasting, laser processing or pad printing. They improve function, appearance and process reliability.
When are additional processes necessary before coating?
Pre-treatments such as ultrasonic cleaning, barrel finishing or blasting remove residues from manufacturing and create defined surfaces. This results in better adhesion of coatings and improved process stability.
What additional processes does Polymeca offer in surface technology?
The most important additional processes include ultrasonic cleaning, barrel finishing, blasting, laser processing and pad printing. These processes specifically complement surface finishing within the process chain.
