This is how feasibility studies and prototype production work at Polymeca.

1. Clarify requirements
We analyse drawings, specifications, tolerances, quantities and functional requirements. In doing so, we clarify the technical objectives and series production-relevant parameters.
2. Assess feasibility
Project management and manufacturing specialists check geometries, materials, tool access, clamping and measurability. Critical issues are identified early and clarified before implementation.
3. Define the process flow
We define the appropriate process flow for milling, turning or grinding. Programming, material procurement, clamping, process sequence and testing steps are co-ordinated internally.
4. Produce a CNC prototype
We manufacture the prototype using the appropriate process and evaluate the chosen machining strategy with regard to precision, process stability and cost-effectiveness.
5. Evaluate the results
The insights gained from prototype production are incorporated into process development, pre-series production or series production launch.

Feasibility & CNC prototyping expertise at Polymeca

Polymeca manufactures CNC prototypes for milled parts, turned parts and ground parts with series production potential and high demands on precision, process stability and cost-effectiveness. The focus is on tight tolerances, demanding geometries or unclear manufacturing processes.

Polymeca combines project management, manufacturing specialists, programming, material procurement and measurement technology through short co-ordination channels. This allows technical questions to be evaluated directly in the production environment and decisions to be made quickly.

Flexible implementation in the prototype shop

A qualified and flexible team of specialists is available for prototypes and early process development. Programming and material procurement are handled in-house. This enables short communication channels, fast turnaround times and express production when required.

Our pool of high-performance machines for precision turning and precision milling is used for near-series CNC prototypes. Depending on the component requirements, Polymeca supplements production with precision grinding.

Quality and measurability in the prototype process

Polymeca takes into account verifiable features, material behaviour, surface requirements and critical tolerances, even during the prototype phase. This allows results to be technically evaluated and used specifically for further process development.

Frequently asked questions about feasibility & CNC prototypes

What does Polymeca understand by feasibility study?
Polymeca evaluates drawings, tolerances, geometries, materials, clamping systems and measurability. The goal is a reliable basis for prototypes, pre-production or series production.
When is a CNC prototype useful?
A CNC prototype is useful for demanding components, tight tolerances, new materials or unclear manufacturing processes. It serves as technical validation before pre-production or series production.
Does Polymeca also produce individual prototypes?
Polymeca manufactures prototypes for series production projects. The focus is not on individual parts or small series, but on components with series production potential.
What CNC prototypes does Polymeca manufacture?
Polymeca manufactures near-series prototype milled parts, prototype turned parts and prototype ground parts. Depending on the component requirements, precision milling, precision turning or precision grinding are used.
What information does Polymeca need for a feasibility study?
Helpful information includes drawings, 3D data, tolerances, material specifications, planned quantities, functional requirements and information on later application.
