This is how CNC series production works at Polymeca

1. Clarify series requirements
We clarify drawings, tolerances, materials, quantities, delivery dates and quality requirements. In doing so, we examine which manufacturing strategy is technically and economically suitable for the component.
2. Industrialise the manufacturing process
Project management, manufacturing specialists and measurement technology experts define the process sequence, clamping set-ups, tools, test characteristics and automation options. The goal is a stable process for recurring batch sizes.
3. Release for series production
Before series production begins, components, measurement characteristics and process parameters are checked. Critical issues are clarified and documented before production commences.
4. Series production
Series production takes place on high-precision CNC machines for turning, milling and grinding. Automated systems, multi-machine operation and three-shift operation ensure productivity and availability.
5. Monitor the process
Polymeca monitors relevant process and quality characteristics during manufacturing. Measurement technology, documented test results and data analysis create transparency regarding component quality and process capability.

CNC series production expertise at Polymeca

Polymeca manufactures precision parts in series of approximately 100 to 5000 units, depending on geometry, complexity and process. Production is based on high-precision CNC machines, experienced specialists, automated processes and clearly defined testing procedures.

The focus is on demanding turned, milled and ground parts with tight tolerances and recurring series requirements. Machining, measurement technology, surface finishing and assembly can be integrated into a seamless process chain.

Precision turning in series production

In precision turning, Polymeca manufactures series parts on INDEX turning and milling machining centres and SCHAUBLIN CNC precision lathes. Machining is carried out from bar stock up to 100 mm or in the chuck. Three-shift operation with multiple machines ensures high productivity and stable unit costs for recurring production runs.

ABOUT PRECISION TURNING

Precision milling in series

In precision milling, Polymeca uses 5-axis machining centres from HERMLE and DMG as well as 5-axis milling machines from DMG. Automated machining and handling systems reduce non-productive time and increase usable machine uptime. Milling production is suitable for demanding components made from block material or cast blanks with high requirements for dimensional accuracy and process stability.

ABOUT PRECISION MILLING

Precision grinding in series

In precision grinding, Polymeca manufactures high-precision series parts on CNC cylindrical grinding machines from STUDER, complemented by honing technology from SUNNEN. Automated robotic cells support stable processes and reproducible quality. The process is suitable for components with particularly tight tolerances, high surface quality and demanding functional surfaces.

ABOUT PRECISION GRINDING

Automation for cost-effective series production

Automation reduces downtime, stabilises processes and increases the availability of the systems. At Polymeca, this includes the use of bar feeders, robot-based loading and unloading, pallet changing systems and automated grinding cells. Process and machine data such as availability, utilisation and efficiency are collected and used for ongoing optimisation.

Quality assurance in series production

Polymeca oversees production runs from the first prototype to the final part using modern measurement technology. Climate-controlled measuring rooms, co-ordinate measuring machines, form, contour and roughness measurement, as well as automated series monitoring, ensure reliable test results. In-process inspections, documented measurement results and monitored measuring instruments create transparency regarding dimensional accuracy, geometry, surface quality and process capability.
