Powder coating

Powder coating provides long-lasting protection, robust surfaces and an environmentally friendly coating.

Powder coating combines long-lasting protection, high-quality appearance and sustainable coating technology. Thanks to its high resistance to corrosion, mechanical stress and weathering, it is suitable for demanding applications. At the same time, it guarantees uniform, modern surfaces in a variety of colours and textures. As a solvent-free process, powder coating is environmentally friendly and resource-conserving.

Powder coating expertise at Polymeca

In electrostatic powder coating, we apply powder particles to electrically conductive components. The powder particles are then baked and cross-linked at high temperatures of 150°C to 240°C. This process creates durable coating layers with high chemical resistance, excellent light fastness and high UV resistance. Similar to wet painting, we apply both smooth and textured coatings. If required, we can selectively cover specific areas.

Quality assurance, analysis and environmental protection

Our coating processes guarantee precision, sustainability and reliability. Every component meets our specifications for dimensional accuracy and surface quality – from the first to the last part of a series.

To do this, we monitor the processes using testing methods such as cross-cut testing, colour measurement and gloss measurement. This ensures the adhesion of the coating and verifies that the colour and gloss level meet the requirements. Continuous monitoring ensures a reproducible coating quality that our customers can rely on.

Quality:

  • ISO 9001:2015 certified
  • Coating thickness measurement
  • Cross-cut test
  • Gloss measurement
  • Colour measurement

Environmental protection:

  • ISO 14001:2015 certified
  • RoHS compliant processes
  • REACH compliant processes
  • Modern wastewater treatment
  • Steadily growing sustainability
MORE ABOUT QUALITY AND THE ENVIRONMENT

«For us, powder coating means long-lasting quality, high mechanical and chemical resistance, as well as reliable protection against UV radiation and weathering. The solvent-free process is environmentally friendly and ensures uniform surfaces that meet high quality requirements.»

Frequently asked questions about powder coating

What is meant by powder coating?
In powder coating, powder paint is sprayed onto the component using an electrostatic process. The coated part is then heated in an oven, usually at approximately 150 to 240°C. During this process, the powder melts, cross-links and forms a hard, uniform protective layer.
What layer thicknesses are achievable?
The typical layer thickness for powder coating is between 60 and 120 µm. This offers a balance between protection, appearance and cost-effectiveness.
What component sizes can be powder-coated?
Components with a maximum size of 1000 mm x 1000 mm x 600 mm can be powder-coated at Polymeca. The maximum component weight is 25 kg.
How do you ensure quality in the series?
We use various testing methods such as cross-cut testing, colour measurement and gloss measurement. This allows us to test the adhesion of the paint as well as the visual properties of the components. Regular inspection ensures reproducible quality in series production.
