Wet painting expertise at Polymeca

Wet painting is used when high flexibility, high-quality appearance and technical function are required. Many wet paints are dried at temperatures as low as 80°C. This is an important consideration for heat-sensitive components or base materials.

The excellent recoatability of these paint layers is a crucial factor, especially for cast components. Wet painting is also the right choice for conductive coatings or effect coatings, such as metallic finishes.

What is meant by wet painting?
Wet painting refers to a coating process in which liquid paint is applied directly to a workpiece. The paint contains solvents or water and, after application and subsequent drying or curing, forms a durable, decorative surface.
What layer thicknesses are achievable?
The typical layer thickness for wet painting is between 10 and 250 µm. The specific layer thickness depends on the coating system, the material, the component geometry and the functional requirements.
Which component sizes can be wet-painted?
Components with a maximum size of 1000 x 1000 x 600 mm can be wet-painted at Polymeca. Crucial factors include not only the component size but also the geometry, material and the chosen paint system.
How do you ensure quality in the series?
We use various testing methods such as cross-cut testing, colour measurement and gloss measurement. This allows us to test the adhesion of the paint as well as the visual properties of the components. Regular inspection ensures reproducible quality in series production.
